(...skip to the end if you want to see pictures else...)
Engineers refer to certain processes as "black boxes". A signal enters a black box and an output is generated on the opposite side. The great thing about a black box is that they are consistent, however inherent in the name lies the flaw. One has no idea what is going on inside said box. Simply put you, the user has no control over the output.
With this being said Photoshop is a powerful tool and one can do some very complex and artistic work if so incline. But I am a believer of avoiding computer automated processes. One because its very simple for someone (with no real skill) to click a few buttons and generate an interesting piece; and two it tends to lack a personal touch. I feel the same way when I write computer code, but I digress.
My housemate ..ADMWLKR.. sent me a photo to play with in Microsoft Paint. I am going to post two preliminary screen shots to show you a bit of the process (15 hours worth) involved, as well as a final piece. I can not stress enough, naan of this work was done using anything, but MS Paint. NO ADOBE PHOTOSHOP.
