The third week, its a big jump...a ~15 mile jump in fact.

Monday (8 miles) Last night I sent out some emails asking if some of my HS team wanted to come out and join in the fun that was my training. I set a time and place for each day this week. So, not knowing what to expect I arrived at CVHS for my morning run to find only one person there, Jessica, who as it turns out has had some intense foot issues and is still running. Props to her, none for everyone else. However, seeing as though I had a hefty 8 for the day and she had a 3-4 depending on how she felt; she as done long before I got back. My run went alright. It was much colder than I thought it was going to be, and as such I heavily regretted leaving my gloves and hat in the car. I pushed through the miles which felt rushed and uncomfortable at first. I hit the half way in 25 high and change and headed back. I think my miles 2-4 were done pretty fast as such my legs became increasingly loaded with lactic acid as I proceeded. I gave up on a blazing close and just decided to finish this run up easy. I averaged 6:29's for the total, meaning I ran around 26 for the second half. The rest of the day has been boring, I drank some tea at some peanut sauce with noodles and will do some core work this evening. Oh I will also buy a new laptop this evening to have for when I start graduate studies.

Tuesday (8.2 miles) As planned today was an 8 mile run. I went out to the Montecito trail head for my run today which went alright. My pace was 6:58 pace so nothing fast, and the trail wasn't exactly speed friendly. I came back quicker then I went out, but the last 2 miles are uphill so all in all a decent run. Total run time 57 minutes.

Wednesday (10.5 miles) Oh here starts the glories onslaught of the 10 milers. For some reason every time I get around 60-70 miles a week I start doing an outlandish amount of 10 mile runs. Anyways today was supposed to be an "easy" 10 miles according to my DI training plan. So I decided that easy meant over 7 minute pace. Don't ask me how I came to this considering I run my long runs at hard base pace, but I need to rest sometimes...right? Any who this was out at Mt. Diablo and I did 3 x 3.3 mile loops. I took this run really relaxed and given the terrain of this run it was good that I did. The run was done at 7:06 pace and felt great. Still holding steady at 155 lbs. right now.

Thursday (OFF 0 miles) So last night was ... or shall I say this morning was the New Years celebration out at Brad's pad. All I can say is amazing, and to bed at 5AM. Hence the off day.

Friday (11+ miles) Still recovering from my awful sleeping habits these past few days. I ripped off 7+ miles at 6:28 pace and probably closed it hard, but I wasn't aware of my splits today. Went off in the PM and rocked a blistering 7:25 pace for 3.3 miles of sheer amazing Kenyan style recovery.

Saturday (12.41 miles) Headed out bright and early (11am) out to Heather Farms to hit a trail that connects to Iron Horse. I headed out at a modest pace, and by modest pace I mean that I hit 5 miles in 31:48 or 6:21 pace. Hi the midway point (6.2 Mi) in 39:39 or 6:23 pace. Then things got interesting. For no real reason I started to roll and came through 10 miles in 1h 2min or 6:13 pace and ran the last 2.41 in 6:02 pace. Also miles 6.2-10 were covered at 5:55 pace. I finished to an empty parking lot, that had earlier been swarming with run for the cure trainers. It was nice to finish alone, so that I could smack into the side of my car to be used as a support without the wandering eyes of soccer moms and baseball dads. However if I had blacked out, as I was approaching at this point, it would have been nice to have had a spotter. Next time no running around noon without fuel in the tank.

Sunday (8.02 miles) Thank god for an easy day. I don't know who the coach at Brown University is who wrote my base training but she got praise from me today. An easy 8 for today and that's what I did. Clipped out 7:06 pace like clockwork and like that the week is done.

Total Miles/Time Running: 58.31 /6:32:52
Average Pace: 6:44 min/mi
Average Miles For:
Week|Day|Runs = 8.33|9.7|8.33

Summary: The week went well with the exception of having to take of Thursday which forced and extra run on me. The pace of this week was slower than last week, but I don't really care since I didn't have any runs where I hammered ( forget Saturday ) and I don't want intensity and millage to spike at the same time.

Next Weeks Outlook: From here on out things begin to get a tad serious. At 60 miles a week I am averaging under 10 a day for the week and its easy to recover from one day till the next. Next week is 70 miles and is done in such fashion 8-10-10-10-8-14-8 with M-T having 8x100m strides. Wednesday and Sunday are easy days.
